First of all, welcome to pichunter!
I don't think that 3 years is a huge age gap but I hear your concern about her being underage.
I would maybe talk to him and make sure that he knows the consequences of letting things develop too far before she's old enough and let him know that you're there for him should he need to talk. I think being open and honest is the best way forward.

Well I think at that age the difference is of great importance. There are many laws that differ in many states and it could land him jail time if something was to happen. Girls at that age can be very vindictive at that age should they break-up or the parents do not approve. I think as long as everyone lays down some guide rules ( meaning the parents). Then it is okay. But do remember. That your son will soon be out of school and she has at least 3-4 more yrs. Things will change for both and so will their friends. I would talk to your son and see how serious he his about this girl. Talk to him about the positives and the down falls to their relationship. I hope this helps.

Sunny and EvilHanded Mrs are right...
there is that age-of-consent thing...a lot of kids today are sexually active at a
young age...and she is very young...so you are right to worry...
Please explain to him what could happen should their relationship deepen...that
a stint in jail looms large...
I know hormones are running wild...
